Vito Curcuru received his Masters in Business Administration degree from Wayne State University. After graduate school, he began working in a local accounting firm and later became its tax manager. Working in a medium-sized CPA firm, Vito had broad responsibilities and assignments. As tax manager, he was responsible for keeping abreast of current tax legislation and keeping the rest of the firm informed on current tax rules and procedures. Vito also represented clients in IRS and State of Michigan audits. He worked with other professionals such as attorneys and Certified Financial Planners to develop comprehensive financial plans for clients. His duties also included accounting procedures such as setting up client accounting information systems, preparing financial statements, and performing financial statement reviews and audits.
With this extensive tax knowledge, Vito proceeded to work for a leading accounting industry software company to work with computer programmers in developing tax software used by CPA firms across the nation. He worked on developing software addressing some of the more complex issues in the tax code.
While his work in developing tax software was rewarding, he preferred to work one-on-one with clients to guide them through the tax laws and to develop plans to help clients make their businesses grow. Thus, in 1996 Vito started his own accounting firm so he could pursue this objective.
